My 15 year old daughter has started to work with me at my place of employment. My boss wants her to call me by my first name or Mrs. ***. I would prefer she call me by Mom. What do you think?

Is it possible to come up with a nickname for you? You know just something that isn't "mom" or your first name. Maybe ask your boss if there's room for compromise.

I can understand the struggle Elena, I'd struggle with it too, but I think if you just try to consider it a professional front, then you may be able to get used to it. It's not like it is all the time. I'm sure there'll be slips ups, though :) Good luck!

She will be with us until at least June 2013. I see my bosses point, however my daughter and I are both struggling with using my first name, lol. Thanks for your input Jodi.

OK, well, it would be because he wants to present a professional image to clients I imagine. I can see his point. Is it only for a couple of weeks or something?

I should have posted more information Jodi, thanks for replying. I work in a hair salon, and my daughter is doing her co-op ( high school ). here.

I can see his point. I guess it depends on the workplace, as to what is appropriate, but he/she is the boss......
