I suggest contacting your doctor/pediatrician for a check-up just to make sure that there isn't something else going on besides picky eating. You can discuss feeding options as well. Generally, kids are pretty good at eating what their bodies need and not much else. This creates fluctuations in how much they eat: Kids will often eat more when growing, eat less when they aren't. Teething, illness and allergies can all effect appetite, too. It might be that your son is cutting molars and his mouth hurts! If this is something you think could be an issue, then try some pain reliever before mealtime and see if it helps his appetite.

In the meantime (while waiting for that doctor's appointment), keep offering your son healthy foods. The formula isn't going to hurt him so that is an option. Pay attention to what he does eat and offer that food more frequently. You can try offering healthy foods in between regular meals (snacks), letting him feed himself until he stops. Try not to worry too much--as long as healthy food is available to your son at meal and snack times, he will eat something. If you suspect teething, offer applesauce (or any fruit "sauce"), yogurt, creamed cereals, etc. These foods will be easier for him to eat without a lot of chewing. Hope this helps and Bon Appetite!

It has been awhile since your last post. I hope your son is better. If he is vomiting, I would definitely take him to the doctor. Chances are that he is allergic to some food that he has started eating. Barfing, alone, would make most people pale. I am not sure if you are giving him breast or cow's milk, but some kids have milk allergies. Maybe just give him one food at a time, and when you are sure he is not having trouble with that food, after a day? then introduce another food. It won't hurt him to have a simple diet for a week or two, especially if his tummy is upset.

My son is now 18 months and for some reason is eating everything, I think he is about to do some major growing, however up till about a week ago he didnt' really eat much and till he was about 16.5 months he drank more of his calories then eat them. I still give my son formula in a bottle before bed and he still doesnt' drink much milk. As long as he is doing well and the doc has no concerns then just wait he'll come around. Don't pressure yourself or him. I know it's hard not too, but he'll be fine.

My son would like to drink milk more often then I let him but, the problem is, milk makes them full so then they won't want to eat actual food.

It's a tricky thing, when they do that, you want to give them milk because it's something you know they'll consume but, it can backfire by the fact that they're then full.

So make sure you put limits on how much milk you give him.

I have a 2 1/2 yr old son who with go through spurts where all he wants to do is drink milk and not eat. If he is looking pale though I would contact his doctor about it. You can also try some pedisure in addition to things like yogurt, apple sauce. You can try to mix some baby cereal with it to add nutrients and vitamins.
