My 17 year old doesn't have any friends and I don't understand why?!

My 17 year old son doesn't have any friends and it hurts my heart. My son has been wearing hearing aids since the 4th or 5th grade and I really don't want that to be the reason why no one wants to be his friend but that's the only conclusion that I have draw over the years. I have got him counseling, put him in mentoring programs, we have joined (and formed,) meetup groups, he played a few sports and joined several clubs at school and yet no one wants to hang out with him. He eats lunch by himself unless, I go and eat with him or he goes to the library. I let him know everyday that there is NOTHING wrong with him and that he has just not found his true friends yet. But it's just so hard to see him lonely and feeling left out. Any advice or support groups or get together's are appreciated. I'm a single mom in a city with no family, so this makes it even harder for my son. Thanks in advance for your help

Oh Pamela, so sorry this is happening. I understand your pain....Is your son a senior this year? I can tell you that my son who has Asperger's and only had a friend in high school is THRIVING in college - he has absolutely blossomed and has real friends who are interested in the same things he is interested in and like him for who he is. Hang in there - your son will go far!
