My daughter is allergic to milk and egg. We were in Florida on vacation and she got attacked by bugs and had an ear infection 1 week prior and off antibiotic for 4 days prior to our trip. A day after we returned we noticed these hives starting to form. They have been appearing off and on for 1 1/2 months! We brought her to the ped. and allegist and both believe viral in nature. They thought too far after the fact to be reaction to antibiotic. She seems somewhat itchy though doesn't affect her behavior or sleep habits. They are huge and seem to appear larger by the end of the day from head to toe. She takes claritin in the morning and we give her Benydryl by days end if they look huge. They were gone for 2 days and then totally came back with a vengence. She goes to a sitter that has 3 cats though they didn't seem to bother her before our vacation.

I have been reading about chronic hives and I pray this is not the case :( Any insight out there?

It seems so long to be viral. She drinks soy though the dr. doesn't think a new food allergy would just appear. Any thoughts????

She may be getting re-bitten constantly. Have you checked about bed bugs? Not saying you aren't clean because that's not a factor, but I would remove all of her sheets and wash them in HOT water and spray the mattress with something natural. Do they look like this?

Thank you for your response. The hives are round and oval in nature and some are raised some are just red spots all over her body. It maybe bug bites (We live in Upstate NY)...could the toxins stay for that long? She's had this for a 1 1/2 months?

Are the hives hard, red a really swollen? My daughters hand swelled up so badly from a bug bite that you couldn't even see her knuckles. Also both of my daughters have an allergic reaction to mosquitoes. Don't know where you live but it sounds like bug bites.
