Have you taken I'm to get his hearing checked. Maybe he can't hear that is why he is yelling so loud. When my 19 month old yells for something I grad it and hold it say what it is and try to get him to say it. Once I hear just a little of the right sounds I give it to him.
I would for sure get his ears looked at.

Sometimes they can only hear certain pitches. Your whisper might be the perfect pith for him. I would for sure get his ears checked. They should be able to do a test in his pc's office to let you know if he needs further testing.

hey thanks for the comments i really don't think it's his hearing because i can whisper something when he's behind me that he likes and he will jump and flap his arms with excitement and a huge smile...he did start screaming mildly before i had Mason but he's gotten alot worse since Mason was born,it may be a jealousy thing but that doesn't explain the lack of speech he's still making the sounds of a baby?

Katherine makes a very good point, it's quite likely, he's still just adjusting to the baby being around. Although I certainly would get his hearing checked, if his hearing is off even just slightly, it could make a huge impact on his verbal development.

Hi Charlene,
It sounds like he is really frustrated. Was he like this BEFORE you had the baby? Maybe he is feeling slighted? And it doesn't matter how much attention you give them they always still feel slighted because they were the only ONE.
I just found this great blogger: http://www.janetlansbury.com/2010/04/no-...
