My 2 yr old might have asperger...Need advice please :)

My 2 yr old has a speech delay. He has been in speech therapy for 10 months now and has progressed but slowly. His comprehension was a question though. His pediatrician referred him out to a developmental pediatrician and that dr said my son showed signs of asperger's. After coming home, i did some research and I really don't think that is what my son has. My son is very animated and shows all kinds of emotions. He doesn't line up his toys or anything else for that matter. He's not clumsy and he plays with other kids. Does anyone have a child with asperger that can give me some advice on this?

I agree with JuLeah. Get a second opinion. It's totally normal for 2 year olds to have speech delays. Especially boys. My nephew didn't start talking until he was almost 3.

Yah, find a new doctor. Attempting to dignose a 2yr old with this???? Clearly out of his field of experiance.

Most two yr olds have speech issues, so I am not sure what the concern actually is there

Stay off the net ... google dignoses are not any better then what your doctor came up with :)

Keep your focus on his skills, his developing abilities, his joy ... read to him, talk with him, play with him ... if you have concerns in another yr or so, revisit an assessment then ... with someone qualified
