My 21 month old daughter is waking up in the middle of the night to get in bed with us and goes ballistic- Hitting pulling hair, etc.

So not sure if my 21 month old daughter is half asleep or what is going on but she will awaken and be like a crazy baby for about 5 minutes before settling down. If I try to lay her back in her crib, she knocks on the door and screams and cries. We have two othe r kids and do not want them to wake up.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Night terrors would be my guess. We found for my son it helped a bit was to get a really good bedtime routine and do it the same every night. We also talked about "dreamland" as a wonderful place to go to, full of rainbows and friendly animals that talk. He still has night terrors sometimes. Don't wake them up! It can be extremely distressing to them if they're woken up. I find going in, snuggling him and whispering gently, "Shhhh, shhh" to really help to calm him down, then once he resettles, to tuck him back in and leave him alone. They usually have no memory of night terrors. My son has had them since he was an infant. They're getting more common as he gets older (usually once a week or so).
