Is the dr concerned? My 2.5 year old is 32 lbs (2.3 stone) and has been for about a year. I don't think he's overweight, he's just sturdy. He was quite chubby, but has stretched up by a few inches in the past year and now I don't think he's chubby anymore.
One thing I do watch, though, is that when he's eaten a good amount of food, if he's still hungry he can have vegetables, like cauliflower, pepper slices, or carrot sticks, and if he doesn't want that then I don't consider that he's hungry. (he likes those things, but won't overeat when that's his option) He eats enormous amounts of food, but a lot of that is fruit, veggies, and that sour yogurt. (he likes the one without any sugar because I've always fed that kind to him... I'm trying to learn to like it, too.) I don't worry about feeding him too much, if he's hungry he can eat, in my opinion. (this is with the veg test I explained before to find out if he really is hungry)
Also, don't feed him junk food, like chicken fingers or fries or cookies or ice cream, at least not more than once or twice a week. And crackers aren't healthy to eat all the time, either.
