My 22 year old daughter

I just finished another screaming match with my 22 year old daughter that ended when she said "fuck you" to me for the 1000th time. The argument began because I objected to her bringing her 19 year old boyfriend over and spending the night with him in her bed. She will not work, or submit to a pelvic exam so she can get birth control. Every night is a party and she sleeps all day. Even though I spent thousands of dollars on tutors and online schools, she did not graduate from high school. She refuses to even study for a GED. I am close to poverty because of supporting her. Her brother is in college and helps around the house without asking.
Today I am packing up all the clothes I bought for her and putting them in bags on the front porch. I am changing the locks and forbidding her to come back in my house. I have had enough.

Sounds like tough love is what she needs. A harsh reality check might set her straight. There is no excuse for her actions. As a 25 year old who has been working since she was 14 and living on her own since she was 19, I think she should be ashamed of not appreciating the way you have been there for her and the way you have gone out of your way to help her despite her poor choices.

Thank you, I feel so rotten for doing that but I am trying to get through school so I can make a better living and the Dad abandoned me and the children. It's very difficult to support us and get through a very tough FNP program. I know she is going to hate me but she already does anyway

Stay strong and do not change your mind if she begs you to come back in. It's time for her to grow up. It is also time you to let her fall and get back up on her own. Good for you!
