My daughter completed her 3rd year on 19th July this year. She joined her Nursery on Aug of this year as we got shifted from Pune to our native and prior to that she had never been to school. She enjoys rhymes, painting, story being narrated to her but not at all interested in writing. Actually she is not writing at all. Is it normal at this age ? Will my child learn to write as all other classmates of her have already expertised in writing. Please help. Thanks.

Actually, most 3 year old kids and even a lot of four year old kids do not really do what we adults and older kids would term as writing like her name or even other smaller and easier words. The things you describe her as liking to do is about right for her age. Other kids are not anywhere near experts in writing as yet as they have just only begun to write, so they may have experience over her but that does not mean there is anything wrong with her. MY own daughter was an early writer more than an early reader because I had to take the time from about six months out from Kindergarten starting to teach her to writer her long name. She had it down in six months and not only that had the neatest hand writing in her class at the time actually it was printing. By the time she got into first grade I think it was, she was trying to do hand writing with all the curves and things she would learn later in third grade and she was hiding it from me! She watched me do it so much she caught on the idea. As for my son, he learned on par with most of his age range. Today I can read my son's writing better than his sisters. Do not ask me why this just is.
