My 3 month old grandson wants to be held while I'm standing up carrying him. Every time I sit down to rock him, or put him in his swing, or lay him on his pad on the floor and play with him he cries until I pick him up again. How do I Unspoil him? Please help.

You don't because he is not spoiled. You can NOT spoil an infant w/ too much love... period. At 3 months old if they want held it is as vital of a need as if they need to eat... so you hold him. Problem solved. If you need to get stuff done... baby wearing would be a life saver. If you absolutely MUST put him down for a bit (like to go pee)... you talk to him the whole time and get back to holding him as soon as you are done. Since he is your grandchild... you are already well aware of just how quickly they grow up. Treasure this time while you still have it because he won't always be small enough to hold.

Babies are not spoiled. If you are not willing to hold him, and love on him, have mom find another caregiver. You can NEVER hold a baby to much, or love them to much. He is not spoiled. He is a baby that enjoys being held, closeness and love. This is what babies need and want.

Like the other ladies said, you can't spoil a baby, they have needs and they cry to get them seen to.

We used to joke that my son preferred the altitude of being held when I was standing. If I sat down or try to rock, he'd wail. That does get tiring. A sling or baby carrier can be helpful. I agree that you can't spoil a baby with love. Nothing wrong with making baby feel safe, warm and snug. Before long he'll be wriggling away, enjoy it.
