My 3 year old has one little cavity, and the Dentists wants to give her laughing gas for her visit. He said if the laughing gas does'nt work he wants to do Iv Sedation.The scarier part is im not allowed in the room with her she has to go back by herself.Is this normal i need other mothers opinions please her appointment is tomorrow and im freaking out.

Just out of curiosity did you son freak out at the cleaning? My son had his first cavity filled at at 3 and nothing was used in him and he actually layed on top of me while they filled it. Is this a pediatric dentist? If not I would find one, but I agree with little miss I would start calling around to pediatric dentists to find one who will allow you to be in the room.

I would NOT let my child go under sedation without me there. If he is being stubborn about it, and these are his rules....maybe call around to specific dentists that are for children primarily and see what they say they would do in this situation. Usually they want the parents there to keep the child calm, and to reassure them.
