My 31/2 yr old wakes up dry but then poops and pees his pants instead of going to the bathroom...

He used to have a potty in his room, but started to dump the pee down the heat vent. Now no potty in his room and he won't leave the room to go to the bathroom until we are up. And he won't wake us up to tell us he needs to go. What has worked for anyone else with this problem?

LOL - sorry to laugh. Keep in mind, you are free to tell this story when he is a sassy 14 year old and mouthing off in front of friends.
I am sure there is a reason to his way of thinking that he can't leave the room unless you are up .....
Get him a bell he can ring - he will like it, odds are. And if you give permission for him to wake you then it will achive your goal.
As days go on, stop coming into his room upon hearing the ring - stand at the door way and say, "I hear you son. Let's go the the bathroom."
Then stand in the hallway and just call to him.
Then try staying in your room and just letting him hear your voice.
The house might look big and strange to him if he is the only one up, or if lights are not on.
Once he gets used to getting up and walking to the bathroom without you, he will be fine.

We never had a potty chair for Jr, just a step stool for the regular potty that everyone went in.

Jr took right to it. My husband made it a fun game, We kept a can of cheerios on the back of the toilet, he got to throw a handful in and play target practice.

He never peed in his pants. He did poo once in his pants and we told him. "you must poo in the potty like everyone else does" He pooed one more time in his pants and i had him rinse out his pants in the potty. He really did NOT like that and never messed in his pants again.
