My 4 month old son had CF and he is only eating 3-4 oz every 3-4 hrs and the CF doctors are telling me he should be eating way more than this but I just can't get him to eat. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also he only weighs a little over 11lbs and I need him to gain more weight. Can anyone tell me what their 4 month old weighed?

My son is 3 months old and he also has cf. I have been obsessing about how much he eats and how often he eats as well. I understand where you are coming from since weight gain is a problem for people with cf. My son weighs 14 lbs. He has recently started to sleep through the night, which I would normally not be concerned about, but that means less feelings, which means I worry more. He now eats about 5 times a day, and that's because I feed him every 3 to 4 hours, I don't wait for him. I'm too worried he won't eat enough. The docs have told me not to worry, but as a mother that's impossible, especially when you have a child with a condition. Trust your mommy instincts. You know your baby best. If he seems satisfied after he eats and he is gaining not losing weight, then I'm sure he is just fine. Not every baby eats the same. There is no written rule for when and how much every baby will eat with or without cf (as I have searched for, believe me lol)

I hope this helps!!

All the best :)

My youngest was very small. I know she weighed more than 11lbs at 4 months, but not that much more. You child is going to eat what he's going to eat. You can't force him.......I just googled and this is what it says:

By 4 months expect birth weight to have doubled. Babies gain about 1-1¼ pounds (450-560 grams) a month and length also continues to increase greatly, perhaps 2 inches (5 centimeters) during this period. There is no strict rule of thumb about how much a baby should weigh at this stage, but your baby should be growing at steady rate.
