i have tried everything but alas my son will not take a bottle. he is very much a boob boy. i have tried to put breast milk into a bottle, bought every style of bottle under the sun, even one thats shaped like a boob! it is frustrating for my husband that i cant even go out and get my nails done. he will scream and cry but will not drink a bottle. he has started solids and loves them, but he will not drink formula or even boob juice in a bottle. is there any way to make bottle feeding any easier on him?

i in no way want to stop breast feeding i love it in every way, but he is getting teeth and i am soo scared for my boobs once one breaks through! i dont know if once he has a mouth full of teeth it if will be able to bare the pain of getting bit, what happens if i have to give him bottles....
and an added bonus would be being able to go out for a small break and have my hubby feed him, the look in his eyes when he realizes he cant feed his son is heart breaking...

So you can atleast go out for a few hours then? Thats good. I enjoy those few hours but always have in the back of my mind 'what if she needs me? what if shes hungry or wont settle?' and 9 times outta 10 I get back to find shes asleep and just fine :)

It just takes time and patience. Either your husband or someone else needs to try. Most of the time, men are too stressed out over it to stay calm enough and we all know how babies can pick up on that. Have you tried getting a family member who is a woman to do it?

As far as the baby getting teeth and nursing. It's really no big deal. My son bit me twice. Each time, he bit, I removed him from the breast, sat him down and walked away. They get the point that biting= no eating. Also, they don't want to sit and bite you, if they are, it's most likely that they're done eating and bored, trying out those new teeth, etc...

Has your hubby tried giving him the bottle? Sometimes it works if they can't smell you. Can you feed bub just before you go out? I do that so that I have up to 3 hours before I need to be home. Hubby is happy to try and soothe bub until I get home if she decides shes hungry before I'm back.

I have no real advice to give you on how to get your baby to take a bottle, but I just thought I'd share with you that my daughter wouldn't take a bottle either. It was disappointing for my hubby as he wanted to help with the feeding too. It also meant I never got a break. My son was the same at first, but at 8 months of age he totally refused to breast feed and after much frustration and a few "non-feeds" I offered him a bottle which he took like a starving calf. So you never know what may happen a few months down the track, but remember that nothing lasts forever and soon your little baby will be a big boy drinking from cups and feeding himself. :-)
