my 5 year old is finding prep abit hard & teachers want him to repeat, we know @ the end of the day its our decision but to come to the right one is really hard. Is there anyone out there that has any advice on this. Would be much appreciated.

What are the teacher's reasons for wanting to hold him back? If he's struggling, it's actually better to hold them back at this age than to do it later on. Of course, I know so many kids that do Kindergarten for 2 years that no one really thinks of it as a big deal.

I don't think it should be a concern at this age. Just keep in touch with teachers and work together so he doesn't continue to fall behind or anything and maybe give him a little extra help at home. If it was at a later age. I would be more concerned. But it's pretty scary at his age I could imagine. He probably just needs a little more attention to help adjust to everything
