My daughter has acid reflux and its gotten just terrible since she started teething a couple weeks ago. Refusing her bottles, in alot of pain, and because of that she is now sleep deprived. My doctor prescribed Zantac for her today and told me to mix it half and half with grenadine. What did you put it in? What should I expect? How did your baby handle it?

My six week old has been taking Zantac for two weeks now and what a difference. She's eating better and I can tell she's not in as much pain. We give her medician straight, just put it in the back of her throat so she doesn't spit it out. The pharmasist told us that Zantac tastes real bad and mixing it with anything will just make that taste bad too and she won't want to drink it (but mine is EBF and doesn't take a bottle). I wish you luck and I hope your little girl feels better!

Both my son and daughter are on this and i was never told to mix it with any thing.. MY son 2 years has never had any problems and he has been on it since he was 3 weeks old, now we only use it if he is telling us is heart hurts lol.. He hears us say heartburn... My daughter was put on it at 36 weeks.. (lol) she was a month early but she was place on it right after birth.. The NICU told me to just give it to her not to mix it with any thing.. She was born at 36 weeks due to Gastroschisis,Very low fluid.. She was 3lbs 8oz and 16 1/4in long.. Now at 9 months she is doing great as long as i do not miss a dose of Zantac... Neither one of my kids have or had any problem with it other then being more content and happier little ones... At first you will still see some thing related to Acid Refulx but after a few days and some time even only after a few hours you will notice a big difference... Hope i have been a little helpful... Take Care and Best Wishes...

Neither of my kids liked Zantac. My son was prescribed Axid. A lot better tasting then the Zantac. Everything i mixed it with didnt help at all....Now my son is on Prevacid solu-tabs (a tablet that dissolves) and we have had no problems. Hope this helps!

Now that she is on the medicine she should be back to normal within a week. The same thing happened with my daughter. It was horrible before she was on the medicine! I actually just gave it to her alone i didnt even mix it with anything but that was becasue she was good at takin meds. But it made my daughter feel a lot better so you should have nothing to worry about.

My son is 12 months and has been on Zantac from 3 months old. As soon as he started taking it he became a much happier and healthier boy. However, I cannot give him whole milk or lactaid...he screams in pain. We are seeing a pediatric gastroentrologist on the 24th to try to get some help with his issues. Fingers crossed.
