My 6 year old daughter touches herself, she has been touching herself for about a year, recently I found her using her toys to touch herself. What should I do?

Let it go for sure. I tell my kids your body is YOUR body. Nobody else can touch it if you don't want them to and no one can touch your private place but you. And only in a private place. When I find my children exploring their body I use it as a teachable moment to remind them how special their body is and how important it is that they understand it and protect it. Sexual stimulation begins in the first year, maybe at birth. It's natural and good and now is the beginning for her to learn how special her body is. But it is a little uncomfortable for us to see isn't is? ;-)

I agree with Dove, but would also like to add make sure she knows this is natural. She just needs to understand the appropriate times to do this. Never EVER shame her for exploring her own body.

Tell her it's private and to wash her hands before and after to prevent spreading germs.... and wash her toys
