My 6 year old son bullies our family cat when he is upset what should I do?

I have put him on punishment, took things away from him, spanked him but he keeps doing the same thing. The more I punish him the more angry he gets and still takes it out on the cat. Help!

You need to help him find another outlet for when he's angry. Instead of punishing him, talk to him about how it's not right for him to take out his anger on something smaller and weaker than him. There are other, more productive options for him to channel his emotions -- a private journal where he can write out his anger, some modeling clay that he can punch and mold...heck, even a punching bag.

If you have any family health resources in your area, it would be worthwhile to consult with them. Bullying of family pets is not healthy behaviour, as it can lead to bullying/abuse of his fellow humans when he gets older. They would probably have some good ideas as to how to help him express and deal with his emotions in a healthier way.
