Hi ladies
my 7 month old has started to refuse his bottle. We have recently weaned him from breast to bottle but had no problems converting him from a breast baby to a bottle baby, he loved his bottle. Now the glow is off and he is refusing his bottle. He used to eat 5-6 6oz bottles and 1 8 oz bottle a day and now he is only eating 2 6oz bottles and 1 8oz bottle a day. He still eats all his regular solid food meals a day with no issue. each meal consists of food mixed with cereal and formula. what is happening, is this a faze, is there an underlining issue that I am missing the signals for. please help, thanks

Hi ladies my 7 month refuses her furmula feed at all meal times now we offer her extra milky puddings and we add her milk to her cereal of a morning. We also give her a biscuit around the 11ish mark with a bottle of furmula up to 80mls now we have found that she will take her bottle while eating her biscuit but come meal times she refuses. We give her water and baby juice inbetween meal times which she likes I am just a bit worried incase she doesnt get her full quota of formula. I am going to try her on a different milk tonight to see if this helps fingers crossed. She seems to enjoy her solids more than her formula bat the moment just hope this is a faze and passes.

I think you should give the sippy cup a try. (Or at least get one of those smaller bottles with the handles on the side.) When my daughter was that age, she wanted to go, go, go. She had trouble drinking her bottle without laying down, and that almost always made her go to sleep. It almost seemed like she didn't want the bottle, because she was afraid she'd fall asleep and miss something. We got her some things that made it easier to drink sitting up, and she stopped associating a bottle with sleeping. I think this made it easier to take the bottle away completely once she got a little older.

My Daughter refused bottles and I have always used a sippy cup since at least 5 months. She loves it. No reason to push him to use a bottle since he has to learn the sippy cup soon anyways. Trust me you will be happier. If you have moved to formula try adding a little juice to it. Ask your Doc about the amount needed. As they get older they do drink less. Always give him the bottle/sippy cup before the solids. So they fill up on it first. That should get him drinking more. If you really want to stick with the bottle try a faster nipple flow or a different type bottle. Their taste/preference changes just as ours do.

at his last check up his weight was really good (23lbs), but I am just concerned that he is not getting enough nutrients and fluids for his size. any suggestions on how to make the bottle his buddy again?

wow you are lucky that he went to bottle from breat. mine refused bottle (tried @ 7 months) but ended up going straight to sippy cup. i would try that. i also found around that age she drank less as she was eating more. sometimes they just go through fazes where they don't eat much then they do then they don't. as long as the doctor is happy with his weight i wouldn''t worry too much.
