Kaitlin, I'll just agree to disagree because I have heard from other moms that some babies don't sleep through the night.

However you are right that she should talk to her son's dr or nurse practitioner about his food issues and possible tummy issues.

I respectfully disagree with Megan.

My first slept through the night early, llke a champ. My second, not as much. He has some tummy issues that wake him often.

I am curious about the end of your post, about lumpy foods making him sick. This could be related, if he has trouble eating certain things, it could be keeping him up at night, or perhaps he's not getting a full enough tummy. How often and how much do you feed him (nurse or bottle) at night? Does he use a pacifier? What have you tried feeding him (and what has made him sick)?

You may want to ask your pediatrician about his digestive issues. Figuring out, for example, if he has a food sensitivity or even an allergy (not as common as sensitivity) could really help him sleep and get more to eat.

My only advice would be co sleeping because at least you'll get some rest. I have a 10 month old who will be 11 months next week and still doesn't sleep through the night.

My husband has been reading about how if you keep your baby fed every 3hrs that could get him or her to sleep through the night because 'their tank (tummy) will be full' but we haven't tried that yet ourselves.

The only real consolation I can give is that not every baby will sleep through the night. And I feel for you.
