my 8 y.o daughter's teachers are pushing meds for attention. Im feeling pressured. Do not want it.

The school meeting basically went down like this-shes a pleasure but we feel she would focus better with meds. The principal says her sons are doing great on meds. Without (meds) and significant improvement they recommend another option of a school in the same district that can focus on kids with special needs. I felt like I was given an ultimatum. We meet again in 6 weeks.

Yes. That's how I'm leaning I called the insurance co today to see about seeing another pediatrician. It just seems too easy to get her on meds without exploring another option.

Wow. That's not ok. A doctor that will write a scrip 'if you want'? I'd seek another opinion.

The doctor said he doesn't see the need for meds but, if I wanted to try and see if she improves he will write a Rx. I feel it may be a slippery slope though.

What does the child's doctor say? It is NOT up to the school district to determine necessity for medication.
