I am a mom of 3...2 boys and one girl..my 12 yr old is at a normal size and my 10 yr old daughter Is skinny ..and very athletic..but my 8 yr old...he is now 140 and it's affecting every day of our lives...in school the kids are so mean to him I had to start home school..and at home he gets made fun of by his older brother...I am at my witts end..I love my baby boy so much....he is so bright and so sweet..and we go to the gym every day
.he is very active aswell...the fact he has asthma doesnt slow him down..but it scares me cause he tries to push himself to over exersize.....I took him to the allergist..gastro...ent...etc..to see what is causing all of the weight gain...all of the test showed he is healthy...I am just so confused...he is very depressed and I want to cry my eyes out...some one point me on the right direction

How long has he been gaining extreme amounts of weight? I assume they've tested his thyroid?

I really don't know... 140 pounds is more than my 14 year old daughters weigh. He didn't get that way overnight, right? What has his diet been like?

I would flat out not tolerate his brother teasing him. Home should be a safe zone. I'd flat out tell the brother that every time he teases his brother you will remove a privilege or a 'toy' for as long as it takes... even if he ends up confined to his room w/ nothing but his bed and some books.

I do not know about the physical health part, but for his mental health please consider getting him into counseling for the depression. Depression makes EVERYTHING worse. ♥

It's an old post but hopefully you're still around.
he has asthma, did they put him on a steroid inhaler or an allergy medicine?
I know that my son who is also 8 is at 140 lbs with asthma and he went from 88 lbs before starting the steroids to the 140 over the course of a year on the steroids.

If all medical issues have been ruled out and he has gained steadily over three years. Then it is he must be eating too many calories. If you are feeding him a high protein, low fat and low sugar diet and he is still gaining weight, then he must be eating in private.
It does not make sense if is he goes to the gym each day and is not overeating, that he'd continue to gain weight and not lose weight. Have you talked to a dietitian who can teach you how much a serving sixe is and what he should be eating and how much each day?
