When my son was 1&2 yrs old he ate EVERYTHING in site! after 3yrs old he became an extremely picky eater, only eating: fruits/veggies/bacon/fries/peanut butter. He is now 8 yrs old and still maintains this same diet (Plus snacks)! He is completely up to date with his check ups, his Dr says he is at normal ht/wt/etc for his age, otherwise healthy, and this is just a "phase". Now I have noticed he is eating even less! Decreased fruit/veggie selection, sometimes only eating 1x a day, he is tired a lot, he gets pale and throws up if we don't constantly remind him to eat! I have tried everything under the sun to get him to eat, I do not believe in force and won't go that route. I managed to get him to try 1 bite of a hot dog and as soon as he tried to swallow it he threw up everywhere! I do not believe this is a phase, yet I've tried absolutely everything possible to get him to eat more and try new things and nothing worked! I am a nurse so I've considered soooo many possibilities for this eating behavior and now I've scheduled an appointment for him to see a child nutrionist as a last resort. At this point I would love to know if any other mothers have experienced something like this? And if so what did you do? And what worked?
