My baby boy has salmonella poisoning. What to do?
MOST HELPFUL POSTS
Oh my gosh! I am so sorry for you and your lil' boy! :(
The only thing I could think to do would be to make sure you keep him full of fluids, the best you know how. Preferably Crystal Light and if he can't keep that down, as I am sure the poor baby is vomiting, Pedialyte. Some babies don't like the taste-- Actually, most I've come across, including my own, don't Try mixing it with Sprite, 7up or Ginger Ale. Anything with ginger will help loads in settling the stomach. Also, bland foods, try and make sure he takes a Flintstone's Vitamin daily to keep his strength up and try to help him, help his body cope with this by keeping it strong.
We've never dealt with Salmonella, thank the good Lord, BUT we have dealt a few times with rancid stomach in both of our babies that just won't seem to quit, that we have no idea where it came from. Those were our Pediatrician's orders... I hope they help and I hope he gets to feeling better soon! :)
Oh! And before I forget, Emerol! You can find it OTC at drug stores and certain retail stores like Walmart, Kmart, Target... it helps to control the vomiting. Our Pediatrician sent me to get that right away... I've been using it without any problems since Cameron was maybe 14 or 15 months old. (He's 2.5 now)

What did you end up doing as my 7 month old son has contracted it too and he has a blistered bum which is wincing and bleeding. He isn't being sick but has had the squits for 11 days now and we have just been given cream to put on his bum as anti-biotics aren't to be used unless it has entered the bloodstream. We also have fluid replacement for him but as he doesn't drink it is virtually impossible although he is fully hydrated
Your comments will be super

Jennifer I am a Paramedic and when we get called to a poisoining we use something called acitvated charcoal to get either the child or the adult to vomit I understand that the doctor has told u there is nothing to do but I would call 911 and get an ambulance there to get him to the hospital and get some help and to get that charcoal to help him get it out of his system. he is going to need IV fluids to keep him hydrated and to be under medical supervision so my best advise to you get him to a hospital. Good luck
