no. Are you sure he is teething and actually cutting teeth or is he just drooly and chomping on things (getting ready for solids?) Try cold washcloths (stick a wet one in the freezer, they feel wicked nice on teething gums) or a whole piece of cellary to gnaw on. Lots nursing (or bottle feedings) and cuddles. There are some great orthopedic teethers out there too- like pacifiers but harder and shaped differently to assist in the 'itchiness' associated with teething.
Hylands aren't on the shelf anymore because they recently had major recalls and lawsuits with poisoning related children's issues- belladonna- just because it's 'natural' does not mean it is safe.

teething tablets are great. I used Hylands with my older 2, but for some reason they aren't on the shelf here in MI any more.
I also use baby oragel. I swear by the stuff and have used it with all 4 of my kids (5,3,2 and 7 months). the 2 year old HATED the flavor, but then again he hates ALL medicines.
If you are worried about what it does/how it feels, just put a little on your lip/gums. It is perfectly safe and you can buy it in these little pre-filled q-tip type things that you just crack and use to dispense. really nifty on the go.
