My son is now 8 weeks old and since the day he was born he has had this issue with choking. He starts gulping like he's swallowing something back and then he will spit up a little but it comes out of his nose.
He eats close to 5 oz of formula at a time and I burp him after every ounce also I have started feeding him sitting up and stopped burping him sitting up but on my shoulder instead.
Two days ago he fell asleep eating and then wouldn't burp but kept waking up like he had a burp. So I put him on my knee to burp him and he let a small one out then a great big one and started choking and gagging so much that I just about took him to the ER as it was almost a half hour of trying to get him to calm down and suctioning milk and mucous out of his nose. Scared the crap out of me.
I have done tons of looking online and seems he fits some of the symptoms for silent reflux and or a milk allergy. I'm thinking about switching his formula to the hypoallergenic and will be going to the dr next week so hoping to sort this out.
I would like to try rice cereal on him to help but am afraid that adding this may make his spit up thicker and make him choke worse.
Just wondering if any other moms out there have had these issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
