Hi there Moms,
I would like to ask if what did you do in weaning your baby from breastfeeding? I have 15 months old and she doesn't like whole milk/ formula.. And i tried a lot of different kinds of milk already but still she doesn't like it.. I'm worried that if she can't drink milk she will not have balance nutrients in her body and she's too young to stop from drinking milk.. Can you help me what to do? 😞

Olivia, while I agree cow's like is for baby cows; it does serve a purpose in a human diet. It is a good source of calcium and vitamin D, so unless your kids loves those dark green veggies, or you supplement, cow, goat, almond or soy milk all have a place in a human diet.

you've done great breastfeeding until 15 months. If you can go to 2-3 years old even better. if not water is fine. Cows milk is for baby cows.

Also, you may try pumping your milk and mixing it with whole milk. Try warming the whole milk up too. Also, a fancy sippy cup my interest her enough to try the milk. Like Dove pointed out, you may want to keep nursing, especially if you are just going back to work now. That change may prove stressful and a little nursing for comfort may help. If nursing is done, that is fine as well; you did her a great service by nursing as long as you did.

If you do not want to wean when you go back to work it is perfectly OK for her to eat food and drink water when you are gone... and nurse when you are together. As long as she's nursing about 4 times in 24 hours she will not need any other type of milk.

Just a suggestion. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Thanks Dove for your response. I know that breastfeed is the best milk for our child. I just need to go back to work that's why i weaned her. But great job to you you breastfed your children through the years. I'm sure your children are healthy.

Personally? I'd keep breastfeeding. There is no milk in the world better for her than your own. WHO recommends nursing to 2 years and beyond for a reason. After 2 the need for milk is not as strong as in young toddlerhood, so it is much easier to get the right calories and nutrients from other foods after that age if they don't drink milk.

I do have two that weaned at 15 months... but they had no issues drinking cow's milk at all. My third drank cow's milk on occasion, but he nursed til 3.25 years old... so I never worried about what he did/didn't eat/drink when he was a toddler.
