My baby has a heart murmur

I was told my baby had a "heart murmur" at the hospital. He had an echocardiagram and then 3 weekd later saw a cardiologist who said he had a coupke of small holes in hisheart that hadn't closed yet and to bring him back at ten months old. SInce he has feeding problems, turns pale, sweats and sometimes gasps for air, I became concerned about his heart.I called the pediatric cardiologist's office and asked for the diagnosis, which was PDA,ASD, and regurgitation in both mitral and tricuspid valves. This doesn't seem so trivial to me and certainly not something to ignore for the next nine months. No one seems concerned except me.

If the baby is turning pale, sweating and gasping for air while feeding I would take him back to the cardiologist or see another one for a second opinion. It is perfectly fine to wait and watch with these conditions if the child is growing normally and not symptomatic. But since your child is symptomatic I would insist that he be seen again.
