I just dropped my baby off at daycare and it is his first day. He was with his grandma this whole time and got so used to them. I just phoned the daycare and heard how he ws crying. It breaks my heart because the teacher said that he has been crying ever since I left him this morning. I do not know if I made the right choice to send him to daycare and I feel like I am neglecting my son and being a bad mom. Did anyone else go through this and when will he adapt. How do I not feel so bad for making this decision especially when no one agreed with me to send him. I would appreciate your advice so much.

Sometimes you will have to make choices for your kids that you either feel are scary or you do not want to but have no choice but to do so.

Thank you so much. Reading this made me feel better. It is day 2 and I phoned earlier and they said he is not crying so much and ate his food and slept a bit. Thank you so much as I feel terrified by the choice I made.

First, your baby is a year old.
Second, he has had grandma all this time to take care of him.
Third, it takes more than a day to get used to new places and faces. It takes about two to three weeks for a baby or even older child to get used to a new environment. You need to give it time.
Fourth, it is normal to feel bad about this choice and you are not the only one that felt this way. I did when my kids had to go to care even when they were older. But I had no choice and had to work.
Fifth, you are not a bad mom and you are not neglecting his needs or yours. You are the mother and it is your choice on daycare or care from someone in the family.
Lastly, give yourself time to get used to this too as it seems it is a new thing for both of you.
