If it is at night, you can use tylenol appropriate for her age level and a luke warm bath to cool her off (or a luke warm cloth wiping her off). Follow the bottle directions for dosage.

Be sure to give her plenty of fluids (like pedialyte, etc.)

If it is during the day, you can do the same things, but do call her doctor/ nurse practitioner to see if there are any other symptoms that you ought to be looking for (ear pulling, wheezing, nausea, diarrhea, pain in any part of her body, etc.). It also matters whether she seems to feel fine or is acting sick. She could be teething also (is she drooling, etc.)

In any case, a call to the doctor is in order so that they can tell you when to bring her in, what symptoms to look for, etc. once the office is open.

They can also tell you if they recommend alternating dosing with tylenol and then ibuprofen. But for now, the lukewarm bathing and tylenol will probably bring it down. You will probably have to repeat the bathing.

I'm happy to help :).

If you can't get the fever down with tylenol and lukewarm baths, don't be concerned about calling your doctor or taking her to urgent care. That's what they are there for.

It's really not that unusual for one that young to have a fever up to 102-103, but the main thing is whether you can get it down with liquid tylenol and bathing.

Tylenol is slow to work. Give it exactly at the dosage times as long as she has any fever vs. waiting on the fever to come up. I know it's scary, but this usually comes out ok as long as you can get the fever back down to 100 or under.

Your doctor might tell you if tylenol alone won't get the fever down to alternate tylenol with ibuprofen (for example - tylenol and ibuprofen taken every 4 hours - you give tylenol at 2:00, ibuprofen at 4:00, tylenol at 6:00, ibuprofen at 8:00, etc. - again, following the dosages and timing for each medication.

I hope she is feeling much better soon (and you too!) :).
