First, you don't want to increase a child's weight just for the sake of increasing it. Some kids are naturally small or lean. And forcing a child to take in any calories just to gain weight can form some very bad habits and unhealthy attitudes toward food.
Second, if poor weight gain is a symptom of a health or nutritional problem you need to correct that underlying issue. That will ultimately address the weight problem. If your baby is actually losing weight, it's very likely you have some kind of serious issue.
Breastmilk is the most caloric and nutritionally dense food you can give a baby. Other healthy, high calorie foods are avocados, olive oil, beans, nuts (especially almonds), peanut butter and almond butter. Many of those aren't suitable for babies though.
