If she's growing and thriving, I'm assuming she is perfectly fine, but yeah.... that's a question for her doctor. ANY size is usually perfectly fine as long as they are continuing to grow and thrive. All kids are different in their weight gain curve.

I'm confused too, why WOULD a doctor say your baby is fine just to worry you?

My daughter was 5lb 2 oz when she was born, and she has ALWAYS been small. She is now 6 and is the smallest in her class at school. She's even smaller than half the kids in the class below her. I am always getting comments about how small she is. I really just ignore it, because she is absolutely perfect as she is - it is the way she was meant to be. Every kid is different. If your doctor is saying she is fine, it is because she is fine.

People probably say she is small because she was premature and had a small birth weight. It's nothing to worry about as long as she is slowly gaining weight and thriving now. It sounds like a good weight to me! My little girl is 2 months old and weighs 10lb 4oz and she was 2 weeks overdue! Doctors will only worry about weight if she starts losing weight or starts to drop percentiles...don't know where in the world you are but here in England babies weight is measured in percentiles.

Generally if a baby is growing (even if it's very slowly) there is no reason to worry about weight.
