My son is almost three and he attends an in-home daycare. I respect my friend who runs the daycare but her kids are brats!! Her oldest, seven, ignores my son when he says "hi" to him and her youngest, two, is a monster child who is as tall as my child and probably weighs five to ten pounds more! My husband and I have noticed that the younger boy is always taking toys away from our son and will even physically knock into him and this morning her threw a ball at my son's face! I know that our son has to learn how to deal with kids like this (life is not all rainbows and flowers) but COME ON! The boy's mom addresses the behavior immediately but this has been going on for months now and nothing has changed. What should I do?! Help!

Norene,

I had a similar experience. I went to school with the couple and the wife was watching the kids with her sister. She took care of my son more than my daughter except when my daughter was out of school. After the kids had been there a while, this new kids started. Soon my son was getting bitten by this new kid. After a few weeks of this, it was too much and I asked what was being done with this kid. I was told that it was between the sitter and the mom and they were handling it. I was not happy with that idea. Then to top it off one of the last bites went through a t-shirt and caused bleeding which made us have to see the doctor and get antibiotics for it. When I asked for the mom's full name and number to get repaid for the visit and medicine the sitter refused. So that day, I took my kids out and my mother inlaw watched them. My boy was not yet a year old.

Perhaps it's time to find a different daycare setting. Especially if you want to remain friends with this woman. Since you son is almost three, it is reasonable for you to look toward a learning environment rather than just daycare.
