My son was placed on intuniv has adhd and tourettes and after starting it I read that some MD want an EKG for heart first but the psychiatric community does not think this is necessary unless there is a family history of heart problems or a known problem. Obviously the psychiatrists are the ones who prescribe this for adhd and not regular pediatrician usually. I think it is prudent and my sons annual is coming up and I was going to discuss this with pediatrician. Most cardiologists get an EKG before prescribing it. By the way has decreased adhd and tics in him, seems really good for adhd and tourettes kids.

thanks Barbara, I will check webmd.com. My daughter has tourettes in a mild form, but she is at the age where peers noticing tics is embarrasing. I have heard intuniv can be used for tics

WEBMD.com will tell you about the Intuniv, you should also call your doctor with your concerns and his new symptoms, there are other medications for ADHD that might be safer.
