My 10 year old son seems to constantly be complaining about feeling nauseous. At least once every week or two he asks me to stay home from school because he feels dizzy or lightheaded. Sometimes I think he may be faking it but now I'm not sure what to do anymore!

Thank you for the response, perhaps he is stressed at school. Ive noticed that he seems to be better later on when I do let him stay home. I will look into it, otherwise I may have him tested for any food allergies I don't know of yet. Thank you again!

Could be a variety of things... from physical to emotional. Food allergy? Blood sugar issues? School/social anxiety?

Do you allow him to stay home, or do you send him to school anyway? If he stays at home, what is his behavior throughout the day? Does it ever happen on weekends, holidays or days when he is looking forward to something? Is he unhappy at school?

If its this regular, take him to the pediatrician to have the dr rule out anything physical. If it is anxiety, and he's trying to avoid school, you need to get to the root of it so that it doesn't continue to interfere with his education and overall well-being; he may need a healthier way to cope with stress. Check in with his teachers to see if there's something going on at school (academically or socially) that he might be struggling with.

Good luck!
