You probably should get him a check up at the doctors just to rule out diabetes! Taking on lots of fluids can sometimes be a sign of diabetes!! Do you just give him milk and water?? If you are giving him juice and cordial, he could be addicted to the sweetness of the drinks!! Just some suggestions, hope he is ok!

I have exactly the same problem with my nearly 16 month old girl she drinks juice constantly apart from water on a night and one bottle of milk a day

I agree with Petia it you should see the doctor to rule out diabetes. Also doctors recommened to stop using bottles by the age of 1 years old, so try to just use a sippy cup to reduce the chance of tooth decay.

He may just want the sucking action, which at 16months, you should be weening him off the bottle. You should switch to sippie cups and use a pacifier to soften the blow. He should be eating more, drinking more water and be very careful with the amount of juice. Juice has a lot of sugar, even if it is natural. Obviously, you know a large amount of sugar is bad. If he continues needing a lot of water too then you need to get him tot he doctor, immediately.

he may not be feeling well, or his molars are on the move making his mouth hurt a little and drinking fluids may be helping. that's the case with my son when he goes on a huge fluid binge (which he is on right now). make sure that if you are giving him juice quite a bit throughout the day you are watering it down, you can then gradually water it down more and more until he is drinking just water. also make sure he is getting enough milk and enough to eat. if it keeps up for more than a week you may want to contact your Dr, as others mentioned it could be a sign of something more serious
