My 14 year old daughter listens to Drake on full blast all over the house. There are a couple things I do not like about this. Reason one is that she might damage her ears and my husband believes that rap is not good for teenagers. He is very religious and believes that rap is not good. Personally i don't care about her listening to this type of music as long as she does not start cursing. How do I confront her and my husband without angering them.

Really, Lanie? You REALLY have a personal relationship with this OP? If so, then why ask over the internet how to instill a habit? Why not have tea with your friend and discuss it in person?

Quit trolling. You quite obviously are, with your statements about throwing someone's phone out the window for saying CRAP, getting your 14 YO surgical implants...Go find something productive to do, such as...Oh, maybe STUDY so you can pass HS???

Nancy, OP: Full blast all over the house? Enforce house rules. As far as your hubs religious stance...I can find PLENTY of Christian Rappers...so he needs to do a bit of research.

So...? That doesn't negate a single word of advice I gave. Grown ups actually parent their kids...

As personally knowing Nancy She's talked to me about this issue multiple times. She doesn't care about the rap music but her hubby Charlie does. As she listens to it herself I cannot speak for her but I think this is what she is asking @Dove

Full blast all over the house? Make her turn it off. If she can not respect volume control, she doesn't need to listen to music at home.

As for the type of music... if her father does not want her listening to it then she needs to be respectful and turn it off in the house. She will likely still be exposed to it elsewhere... and that's why you talk about the kinds of things she listens to and why he objects to it and that is why it isn't allowed in the home.

hey I feel you Nancy! I also have a music problem related to my child named Latisha. She is also 14 and in 8th grade but doesn't listen to anything with bad words or reference. Every time she hears a song like that she will start screaming and run out of the room. Can you give me some advice on how to start your child on a habit of listening to Drake??
