I took your adivce and I thank you soo much because it really worked. Her tantrum got out of hand so i had to leave out the store and take her too the car until she calmed down I told her that it isn't right for her to have a tantrum like that then afterwards she hugged me and went to sleep. So I will no longer pop her.

She's one. Stop hitting her for having emotions. MOST tantrums have a reason behind them... hungry, tired, bored, sick, too much stimulation (noise, lights, sounds, people), etc... find the reason for the behavior and you can cure most of those issues. The other type of tantrum is from not getting what they want... and those are the ones you just ignore until they get over themselves. The more attention you draw to it... the longer it lasts. If it's REALLY bad you can take her to the car or somewhere out of the way until she calms down and explain that freaking out is not how we get what we want in life.

Well, it's definitely not easy figuring out how to handle tantrums with your first child. So, know that all moms have been in your shoes! And I think a lot depends on the specific age of your child. For instance, I've heard that discipline really isn't effective for children until they reach at least eighteen months. Also, it's always a good idea to rule out any physical causes as well and get your pediatrician's take on her behavior. But, with that said, I did think there were some good suggestions on handling tantrums in an article at http://bit.ly/1sRPnzn. So, just FYI. Hope it helps!
