my daughter

My daughter is going to be 14 tomorrow and she has special needs and also non verbal. I got her enrolled to a summer camp in offaly last week so that she can have fun, i picked her up at the right time and later that night they called me that they couldn't have her because they didn't have a staff to assign to just her. It hurts so bad because i felt they rejected her because of her condition. My daughter does almost everything for herself just that she can't speak. She is my only child and i don't know how she is to grow and be confident and have self esteem when she isn't given the chance. I am so angry

Had you discussed her condition when you enrolled her? That's a pretty important thing to omit and just hope that they can accommodate. Can she write her thoughts? Does she know sign language? Does she have other ways to communicate to let the camp counselors know if there's something wrong? Sadly, there are activities from which your daughter will be excluded because of her condition. You need to find other programs that are better suited to engage children with special needs.
