She is 3....playing is what 3 yr old do and should do for proper development. 3 yr olds learn through play. If you look at any school for 3 and 4 yr olds you will notice that most of their day is spent playing. This is how they learn.

I honestly get frustrated when I read posts like this. Your babies are babies for such a SMALL amount of time. Play with them, have fun with them, educate them through play, read to them, spend time with them, but don't force them into a formal education setting.

I really think the same, Jodi. I work with kids and they are not doing any of this yet either for their age and its under three years that I work with. Though we do work on it during our day with play and art time and other times, its not mandatory that they know how to do this. I have read other things where some people were wanting their under two year old child to learn ABC's and so on....I do not get it.

What the heck is it with people forcing their 3 year olds to read and write? Seriously....she is THREE. She doesn't need to be able to read and write yet. Firstly, she probably can't hold a pencil properly yet because it is NORMAL for a 3 year old to have underdeveloped fine motor skills. Secondly, it is NORMAL for children this age to learn through play.
