Does any body else have this problem. I hate her being on an antibiotic all the time. It is minor, and we can do surgery, but then there is that. Any help or advice?

I have this problem and though it is a bother I have learned to live with it. Stay on the meds I have been on them since I was 6 and I am now 32. My case is extreme as I also have extra kidneys that all combined work as well as one. It is painful but liveable. Good luck

My daugther has just recently been told that she has that she is 15 months . They say her is a mild case and most liking will grow out of it. So we have choosen to wait and see if she get anotherr blader infection before putting her on antibotics. If she has a fever for no reason we have to take her to the hosipital to have her urine tested. The doctors say that most kids wit mild cases will grow out of it.

Good luck Jodie it is not easy. However if she has had infections i would totally keep her on the antibiotics but talk to the dr about the side effects if your really worried.

My daughter is now 4 years old she was diagnosised a year ago and she has had 2 infections and now they have put her on a stronger antibiotic which worries me we go for another test in 2 months. I'm interested to see if it is worse or better it was a stage 2 a year ago. Thanks for all the advice and information.

My Daughter also had this problem when she was 4 years old, but after one year of low dose antibiotics she was fine. She has not had a bladder infection since and she is 21 years old now.

Two of my three children had this problem, when they were under five. They were on antibiotics every day also to prevent any infection. Which is best they never suffered and kidney damage or scarring and by the time they were five years old they both tested negative for reflex. They are now 20 and 16 and doing well. The only problem i had with the antibiotics was there teeth. The sugar in the medicine rotted out two of my daughters baby teeth. I wish at the time i would have been told to swish with water after a dose and to brush her teeth right away. Thank god it did not damage to her adult teeth. Good luck to you.

How old is your daughter? We found out my daughter had it when she was 5 months and yes she was on antibiotics for 2 years. She did finally out grow it. She is 9 1/2 now and the only problems we have is an occasional bladder infection. It is funny that we have that in common with our daughters and also your last name is my maiden name. Hope this helps!

Hi Jodie, My son was diagnoased with stage 3 reflux in both kidneys at 12 weeks old. I kept him on the antibiotic for a year and he did not have a single kidney infection, this was the beginning of Dec 2004. By Febuary 2005 i demanded that he be taken off the antibiotic. I do not recommend that for everyone though as his case was different. He has still not had another infection since the first. He is now 4 years 7 months and there is only a little reflux in one side and nothing on the other, it can definatley go away with out surgery depending on circumstance. Your daughter can not make these choices so you have to be strong if you feel something is wrong. Good Luck....The worst part of the whole thing for me was the tests the do.
