my daughter was on breast milk and soy formula for the past 2 months and i just got her off breast milk due to massive mastitis. she has had half soy and half breast milk. now she is just on soy formula and we just introduced pablum 6 days ago just in her evening bottle then started spoon feeding her a tsp before bed the past couple of nights. she has been straining and straining and her poop is like little terds or very very thick. what can i do to help my poor little girl her face goes completely red when shes trying to push out a poop, and she isnt burping well either when her tummy is real full. :(

My son is 9 weeks and at 4 weeks he started soy formula and got constipated. I have him sugar water (5oz water with 1 tsp sugar) by after 2 days he was cleaned out!

my son is now 9 months old but when he was around 2 & 3 months old he did the same thing... juice helped loosed up his poop A LOT!! my docor told us to start with pear juice becuz it tastes better than prune juice but it isnt too sweet. if the constipation is hurting her, lay her on her back, push her legs to her chest & move them in circular motions.

My 2 month old uses the soy formula as well and it makes her constipated. What I found best is to mix a little bit of prune juice with the formula once or twice a day. It helps their bowls get going again.

My daughter did the same thing and my dr had her start drink in a few ounces of water. He had me get bottled water that is for children and has floride added to it. But I recommend consulting your dr.

Is pablum made of rice cereal? Rice cereal generally constipates babies, and shouldn't be fed to babies under 4 months old. If she's straining and constipated because of the pablum, it's likely that her system isn't mature enough to digest it properly. I would suggest consulting your daughter's paediatrician for advice on how to ensure proper nutrition with foods that are appropriate for her age.

i am not familiar with pablum, but the constipation might be due to the soy formula...my son was on soy for a little bit and it constipated him horribly...he had a really hard time with it..see what your doctor says and maybe he/she can suggest a different type of formula for you to use! good luck!! :)
