my daughter is 8 yrs old! my question is when do i have the talk with her about her period? i had the talk at 8 and i started at 9! should i wait or talk to her?

I agree with Amanda. I would talk to her, especially if she is starting to have breast development, pubic hair or other signs of puberty. Tell her that you want her to be prepared because you started early. Don't make it sound like a big mysterious thing. Just tell her that this is a part of life for all girls eventually, some earlier than others. She is still 8 so giving her the basics and simply answer any questions she has and don't go into more detail than she asks for. Then tell her that when she has more questions you'll be open to talk to her any time.

If you started early I would look at having a talk with her soon.

You want her to be prepared and be able to come to you when starts her periods and not be scared or worried because she is unsure of what is happening to her.
