She should also be having 3 balanced meals a day. Breakfast should be something like oats with fruit (not sugary commercial cereals), lunch could be a lean meat (like chicken breast) and could be in a sandwich if she wants. The bread should be a wholegrain bread. Dinner again should be lean meat or grilled fish. Nothing fried or deep fried. Have vege's with dinner and nuts are a good low GI snack throughout the day.
You may want to visit a nutritionist to get a more detailed balanced diet but 3 meals a day is a must to get the metabolism working. 1 "proper" meal a day isn't enough for a growing child and will only make her body go into shock and store fuel for when she isn't getting the nutrients she needs.
Please keep in mind that she's only 9. She doesn't need to go on a "diet", she needs to be taught healthy eating. She also needs food to grow and for brain function.
