my daughter is a compulsive liar. She lies about almost everything. she lies about simple things which it was not necessary for her to li about. For example, yesterday, I asked her whether she made a contribution at church nd she said no. I later found out that she actually contributed. There are many instances where lied. Please help. She has been lying for a long time now and I need help. th problem is that she does not only lie to me. She basically lies to everyone and not for gain or anything. She seems to avoid the truth all the time. Is there an therapy for this behaviour. Is there anything I can do.

Hi, I'm actually not a mom I'm a dad and I am very concerned about my daughter and her lying habit. My daughter is seven year old and she lies about the simple things and it's frustrating because I don't know how to help her. I punish her by taking her fun away from her. I even had her write, " I will tell the truth. I will not lie" but nothing works. I talk to her about why she feels the need to lie but she just shrugs her shoulders and says I don't know. Can anyone help?

Some form of behaviour therapy. See if your doctor can give you a referral to a good psychologist who could help with this.

Hi Judy, thank you for responding. My daughter is 13 years old. What kind of therapy would help? Any suggestions?
