My daughter is eight and we haven't had the talk yet, I'm 24 and I'm not sure how I should approach the subject of the birds and bees, I would love to hear suggestions.

American Girl has a really good book for girls called 'The Care and Keeping of You'. Reading that together would be a good starting point. I also like 'Where Did I Come From?'
Personally, I used books to get things started. Conversations have just kept coming from that and stuff that goes on in her life (11 years old now).
She was 7 when we read the first book and about 8.5 for the second. In a couple of years you could start being very open with her about the struggles you went through as a teen mom.... hopefully that will put her off sex for a LONG time. ;)

I do agree she's too young to know details, she's at the where do babies come from phase. She's very smart and advanced for her age and it seems all the girls her age are talking about boys and I'm still teaching the whole cooties thing..,

Do you not think 8 is to early for the talk? Are you meaning sex or changes to the body or differences between boys & girls? I personally think that 8 is a bit young. However that is my own humble opinion. I have heard that there are some good children's books out there that cover that type of info so maybe google that. Good luck. X
