My daughter say she has no friends, and is backed up by the teacher

My 10 year old daughter is very pretty, smart and funny and has always done well in school. This last quarter she had two F's and a D+!! She has been asking to switch to another school and when I ask she says it is because she has no friends. I asked the teacher and she said she does seem to be exhibiting left out feelings - they don't have a counselor at the school. I am going to speak with the teacher in person this afternoon. As the moms from previous posts have mentioned it is totally breaking my heart. I have purchased American Girl books on making friends, understanding you, and feelings. She reads them, and she is so eager to play, I don't understand. We had her in cheerleading to help make friends last year but by the end of the season (if not the middle of) she would sit by herself during brakes and at competitions, we tried girl scouts, and with both groups she always ended up by herself. She is never invited to birthday parties either. :( I have her in guitar now because I try to keep her life happy - Reading previous posts seems the consensus is that the girls don't feel it as much as moms do, but my gosh this is horrible.

Have you started having her ask the girls over for play dates? Maybe have a little party for the welcome of spring? It sounds like she is very shy. Keep her active, maybe get her into sports?
