My daughter wants to do her own hair now

My daughter is a beautiful mix of white and black with gorgeous curls. I have always done her hair myself, but now that she is getting older she wants to do it herself. I love that she wants to be more independent, but she doesn't really know how to do it herself. My baby girl went from -natural brads -twists -and pigtails to a somewhat frizzy Afro. Do I let her explore her hair freedom, or go back to her throwing a fit about being too old to not do it herself?

The only way she will learn how is to do her hair by herself, is to let her. Exploration of hair freedom, is a child's first form of self expression. The ability to control the hair on her head should be her's and her's alone. Be proud she has the self worth to care about her grooming/hygiene and appearance in a safe and positive way. Before you know it, make up, piercings, tattoos and more will be up for conversation!

How old is your daughter? I admit i dont know much about the hair,i guess it needs special conditioner etc. Is it difficult? I have long straight hair and as a child i only had to wash with shampoo and conditioner. I learned how to make a ponytail and brush them myself befor i had to go to school. My mom would just check that i did it nicely and if i had tanglesvshe would brush them for me..or also braid them.
