My daughter was call the N word

We never use the N word in my house I'm a single mom and my daughter came home and stated a Hispanic high school boy call her a nigger. I reported this to the vice principal and everyday i have left a message to check on the status. I was sure it would be quick action with us living in this current political climate. My question is how far should i take this. Im afraid if i leave it alone what message does this send.

I would do what Sarah said but send it to the principal, stating that you have contacted the vice principal without replies back. CC the vice principal. If this does not go further with them, seek out the super attendant of the district. Continue until you feel you have received the responses you expect.

I would send a formal email, and request a written response. While it may just a be one time incident of stupidity, if it continues to occur you want have a paper trail. You should at the very least expect this child to apologize to your daughter. Kids do and say stupid things and I would encourage your daughter to chalk it up to ignorance, not that it makes it ok.
